So you’re a creative

  • by

Your’re a creative… well so am I. I’m a writer who has written for a living for years. I’m also an occasional potter, or I was. I worked in a studio and have sold a few things.

I’ve had friends who paint in a variety of mediums, a few who have made their living with their art.

Wikipedia on art starts this way:

Art is a diverse range of human activity, and resulting product, that involves creative or imaginative talent expressive of technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas.[1][2][3]

Years ago when I took pottery lessons from Elizabeth Woolrych in the Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego’s wonderful Balboa Park,I listened to some real money making artists talk with each other about how they loed what they do and how difficult it was for them to make enough money to live well.

It could have been a bunch of writers. Slowly I realized that much, maybe even darn close to everything I’d learned about writing could also be applied effectively to any art. Ok, maybe rules of punctuation and sentence structure doesn’t help painters and potters, but how the be an entrepreneur with paining and pottery, that is painters and potters, could probably benefit from my experiences.
