Freelance Writing Jobs
-
July 9, 2008

Please tell prospective employers you found them through the list at About Freelance Writing (www.aboutfreelancewriting.com).

If you've gotten a gig through this list we'd like to hear about it. Post your success on our forum. (If you're not a member you'll have to sign up but it's no big deal.)

Notes to Writers Looking for Freelance Writing Jobs: Contact the editors/employers directly through the contact provided in the job listings. The links here are valid for the writing job described when I post them. If the link takes you elsewhere it's because the posting has changed and I can't help you find it; I truly have no way to track them.

Notes to Publisher/Employers: About Freelance Writing will publish your job offer provided it's a paid job, the pay rate is stated, and the work can be performed offsite. Submit jobs to: anne@aboutfreelancewriting.com with Jobs/Markets in the subject line.

  1. Blue Mountain Arts is interested in reviewing writings for publication on greeting cards. We are looking for highly original and creative submissions on friendship, family, special occasions, positive living, and other topics one person might want to share with another person.

Submissions may also be considered for inclusion in book anthologies. We pay $300 per poem for all rights to publish it on a greeting card and $50 if your poem is used only in an anthology.

To request a copy of our writer’s guidelines (which include contact/submission information), please send a blank e-mail to writings@sps.com with “Send Me Guidelines” in the subject line, or write us at: Blue Mountain Arts, Inc. Editorial Department P.O. Box 1007 Boulder, CO 80306. You can also visit our Web site at www.sps.com.

  2. MTV affiliate blog seeks Talented Humor Writer - You've got an ear for subtle humor, a shameless love of celebrity gossip, and the writing skills to back up your constant witticisms on Shia LaBeouf and The Jonas Brothers. Plus, "An Inconvenient Truth" kind of touched your heart.

Sound familiar? If so, write for The Beanstockd Project. Beanstockd.com is one of the web's fastest growing pop culture blogs. Because of our rapid expansion, we are seeking to recruit several new, talented humor writers to join our team as interns, freelancers and full-time contributors.

The Beanstockd blog features the latest pop culture news served with a green twist. We intercept people who normally aren't exposed to or interested in anything green (a lot of young adults today) with environmental information through the pop culture news they're getting anyway.

It's not a requirement for Beanstockd writers to be militant environmentalists, in fact, most aren't - we're searching for pop culture junkies and brilliant wordsmiths with some interest in the green movement.

Time commitment is flexible, and the position offers immense creative freedom.  Paid position, amount to be negotiated upon hire.

    Candidate Requirements:

    * writing, blogging or journalistic experience
    * strong knowledge of current pop culture
    * cutting wit and smart humor
    * location not important as writers work remotely

Application instructions: Submit CV to recruiting@beanstockd.com. Visit: www.beanstockd.com
